Recent change to dropdown to select class hampers usability.

The left side bar rearrangement, showing only one class at a time, really hampers usability for anyone in more than one class, but especially for more than 2.
I have to go through the classes to find which has the notification, and then finally see whether it is a new question, or just TAs chatting. It is annoying, especially since there is plenty of real estate.
Since your class icons are circular, you have 4 corners that could be used both for notifications and for menu selection -- more of a dashboard of class status, with an interaction that works on both computers and mobile devices if you can use pop-up circular menus. I'll quickly learn whether a notification number in the corners mean chat or question or other if a circular menu pops up (Feed, Rooms, Settings) when I hover over the class image.

This remains a daily annoyance, because I have a lot of room for the classes that I am in, yet it shows me only one class, along with the notations from other classes that are not relevant when I'm in the one.
Josh had one possible suggestion: allow users to reorganize the sidebar icons, esp. for other classes. https://campuswire.canny.io/feature-requests/p/ability-to-reorder-classes-and-groups-in-sidebar

Hi Jack Snoeyink, thank you for the feedback. The reason behind for the changes to the left side bar is that we wanted to create real estate for upcoming features on Campuswire. With the old design, there was not much room to implement these features without making the app overcrowded and complex.
However, we've been collecting feedback on this new design and will be thinking of a new solution to improve it. We will make sure to make it easier for users to check which types of notifications they have in their classes. If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to add them here!
