Remo.co does a really good job of this - where they have a bunch of virtual tables for teams and office hours.

This makes breakout rooms so much easier to use and way less clunky.

For example, you could make a table for each team of students working on a problem, and then the professor / teaching assistant can go from table to table to assist and check how the students are doing.

You could create a table for questions about a certain topic and have all the students with that question cluster there.
