I'm using a Campuswire channel #lecture-backchannel for live lectures (streamed externally; using the live lectures on Campuswire is not possible for my use case).

For that, it would be desirable to allow anonymous replies / messages (and I can imagine other scenarios). It could be a per-room setting whether anonymous replies are allowed.
