When someone comments on a question, there is a useful little red symbol that appears in the feed. It would be great if the same was true for replies to answers and replies to replies!
In addition, at the moment, replies are hidden and it is very difficult to notice them. I find that this is often where the best discussion happens. I think they should be expanded by default.

I vote for this! The direct answers are auto-expanded, but answers-to-answers are hidden by default, which makes students miss my answers :(
