Posting as anonymous is not actually anonymous

I think this should be reopened. The issue is that the pseudonym appears to be the same for a given user across the entire platform, rather than uniquely reshuffled for each post/comment thread. This means that once a user's real identity and pseudonym are connected (for example, by accidentally revealing it to others or by inference), classmates effectively know who that user is.

This risk is amplified because the site is currently sending lots of pings to the console showing the comings and goings of each user, along with their unique ID and viewed post IDs. So inference is easy.

Aayush Agrawal, the idea behind anonymous and pseudonym is that you can still hide your real name from your classmates and instructor while other people can still identify you as a pseudonym in a thread. If we were to give everyone "anonymous" as the name, it would be very difficult to identify who is saying what in a group setting.

Duong Nguyen: Right, that makes sense. Thanks for the quick response.

Duong Nguyen: This makes sense within a single thread, but not across the entire site.
