There seems to be no way for either my students or me to delete a comment they added to a post.
Hi @Drew Lewis, are you referring to the comments tab?
If so, you can only delete a comment within 5 minutes of it being sent. It was designed this way to prevent users from manipulating content and confusing other users.
Deleting is only meant to be used if the user made a mistake and wanted to delete it immediately. Hope this explanation helps!
@Duong Nguyen: One of my students inadvertently posted something as a comment to a note, instead of in their chat. They couldn't delete it, and asked me to, and I can't delete it.
I don't understand how not being able to delete things is supposed to prevent confusion. Students post wrong and confusing things all of the time, we should be able to edit, clarify, and delete as needed. Frankly, decisions about what things should remain in an instructor's class should be up to the instructor, not up to an engineer designing the platform.
@Drew Lewis: Thanks for the feedback. We will add support to allow instructors to delete comments this week.
In the meantime, a workaround for this problem is to simply edit the comment that the student created and replace it with a "." or any other characters that you wish. I hope this helps.
